Power Rangers Birthday Games and Activities

power rangers pinataIf the birthday boy loves Power Rangers, he probably loves high-octane activities like video games and vigorous sports activities. Choose birthday activities that reflect these interests and allow the guests to be active and adventurous. Here are some ideas for fun activities that fit the Power Rangers theme:

Kung-fu/martial arts class
Check with your local martial arts center, fitness center or community center to see whether you can co-ordinate a one- or two-hour introductory martial arts class for the kids. Martial arts are a big part of the Power Rangers’ appeal, and the kids will love learning some of the moves that their heroes make on the big screen. You may be able to hire an instructor to give a modified class in your home or other birthday party venue, instead of having to bring all the kids to the center. Don't be surprised if they're telling everyone about this party afterwards!

Dino Gem hunt
For a stay-at-home adventure, try staging a Dino Gem hunt. The Dino Gems are special dinosaur stones that give the Dino Rangers their powers in the Power Rangers: Dino Thunder movie. Stage a hunt where the kids have to find the Gems and acquire their superpowers. Get a quantity of identical small boxes or bags in a distinctive color (to make them easier to find and identify) and place a different-colored plastic gem in each (find gems in a craft or hobby store). Hide them all over the house and in the yard if the weather permits, and have the boys go off in search of the Dino Gems. For each Gem they find and bring back to you, give them a small prize. The prizes can be in the power rangers or dinosaur theme: little dinosaur figurines, dino-sour candies, gummy dinosaurs, Power Rangers Bouncey Balls, etc. You can also have a list of special powers written on posterboard alongside the different Gem colors. As each Gem is found, make an “X” next to the power and write the Gem finder’s name next to the power they acquire.

Power Rangers Pinata
A pinata at any party is a very fun and exciting activity especially at a Power Rangers party where they have to defeat the bad-guys! You can tell them that they need to "power up" by busting open this pinata (or something to that effect). The store bought Power Rangers pinata with pullstrings are super durable which means every kid will be able to get a wack in! There's nothing worse than the pinata busting open on the first swing. Be sure to keep the non-hitting kids at a safe distance!

Laser tag
Laser fights also feature frequently in Power Ranger shows. You can give the kids their own laser tag adventure by taking them to a laser tag arena, or by purchasing your own laser tag equipment, if you have the space to conduct the game in your home or other venue. Keep in mind that you’ll need a darkened room to play in. You can find laser tag sets at Amazon, however, they will cost about $40 to purchase a two-person laser tag set, so setting up a multi-person game can get expensive. However, shopping on Ebay may save you some money.
